Hi, I’m Tara McCarthy, professional artist and proprietor of Canvas Club. I opened my art classes in 2010, wanting to give children the opportunity to work with quality art materials and produce high quality art. This has been hugely successful , and there are now four different classes to join, depending on location and age. The classes cover numerous types of fine arts and fun crafts, all in a friendly, relaxed environment so children are free to discuss topics and socialise with their peers. Acrylic painting, portraiture, collage, plein air sketching and mixed media are all practised in class, culminating in an annual exhibition at the Carnegie Arts Centre in Kenmare. 

 

Canvas Club children are also very involved in the artistic community, they have worked on a number of murals in Kenmare and Kilgarvan , have work displayed on RTE , and have won several national, county, and local titles in Community Games art. Past pupils have gone on to study art, digital media design, and animation at third level.
